The Best Adventure Travel Trips

Who doesn’t enjoy an adventure? Adventure travel trips are easy to book online and very exhilarating to most vacationers. The challenge comes in identifying exactly what sort of “adventure” you want on your vacation. Some travelers are not content to sit on a beach or stay in a five star hotel and call that an adventure. Some want to truly test their mental and physical capacity by traveling to a location that is truly exotic, adrenaline pumping and just a little bit “dangerous.” Where are the best locations to go?

Let’s first try and determine where you are in terms of danger-seeking. There are plenty of locations in the U.S. and throughout the world that are “dangerous” and thrilling without being literally dangerous and scary. First off, let’s review a list of legitimate dangerous places you want to avoid at all costs (regardless of the free drinks you get for staying at the hotel). Forget about countries like Afghanistan, Burundi, Cote d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Georgia, Haiti, Iraq, Liberia, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Somalia, the Sudan and Zimbabwe. These are countries you probably can’t get to anyway, given the travel warnings out for them.

On the other hand, faraway locations that might seem a little dangerous are actually quite safe and these include countries like Australia, China, Cuba, Costa Rica, Amsterdam, Thailand and Egypt. You might also find a particular challenge in conquering the rough and icy cold terrain of Alaska or Canada, or seeing inactive volcanoes in Hawaii.

That said, there are just as many continental U.S. locations to enjoy that offer a whiff of danger and adventure, but are still safe for the whole family. These include states like Wyoming and Colorado who offer skiing and ice climbing and states like California and Utah that offer rock climbing. You could even find time to hit states like Oregon and Texas for BMX biking.

If all else fails, then go to one of the major theme parks in the U.S., including Six Flags, Sea World, Disney World and Busch Gardens. Last but not least, if you’re feeling particularly strong and unbreakable head over to an Antarctica tour and make peace with the penguins. There is always an adventure out there whether traveling in the U.S. or overseas!
