Five Tips on Finding Cheap Hotel Prices

You don’t want a cheap stay at a hotel, but you are definitely interested in finding cheap hotel prices! If you have searched all the major travel sites and have yet to find a single decent price, then consider some of these tips that may help you to save.

1. Compare prices online.

Well, you knew this one right? Not only should you compare prices between different travel agencies but you should also check the price of hotels, airlines and major entertainment centers. They all occasionally offer below average deals, as do online coupon sites.

2. Book in the off-season and on weeknights.

Just so you know, everyone and their brother is booking hotel stays on the weekend. Everyone and their sister is booking hotel stays during the major holidays. Therefore, if you’re accustomed to booking family vacations in holiday seasons, you may very well be shocked to discover how cheap November and early December bookings can be.

3. Look for family operated, independent hotels.

This should go without saying: the corporations are going to charge you into the next lifetime. So try booking at family-owned and operated hotels. Yeah, they may take some advantage of you, especially if you’re traveling in the winter season, but probably nothing compared to a corporate-owned hotel that has some enormous “front end.” If you’re willing to settle for anything less than complete luxury, you can find some very cheap deals even in popular cities.

4. Book a holiday hotel package.

If you book your airfare, hotel stay, car rental and entertainment individually, then you may be paying too much money. Oftentimes you can pay one moderate fee for a complete vacation. Remember also to check for online coupons to cut the discounted price even smaller.

5. Haggle your way to victory.

Don’t assume that the millennium old talent of haggling is out of date just because everyone is addicted to the Internet. You can still negotiate with front desk personnel and ask for a better deal. Even if they personally can’t help you, they may be able to recommend an unadvertised deal happening in a few days, or weeks. Or move you to a better room! You never know until you ask.
