There are all kinds of activities that people might do while on a trip or vacation, and often these include excursions or travel to another distant point. Instead of booking a very costly single air ticket, many people opt to investigate one way car rental deals that save tons of money.
How do they work? It is usually a case of choosing a large or national franchise that has many options in “drop off” and “pick up” locations. Most often these locations are located in somewhat urban areas, but they can be found in relatively rural ones when necessary.
As an example, let’s consider a couple who has enjoyed a train trip to a specific destination. They arrive at the city or attraction for which they booked their special tickets. Once there, however, they would like to do some local touring and then actually drive back to their home. This is a fine example of a one way car rental.

When the customer has reached their destination they will simply drop the vehicle at an approved location which tends to provide a secure “key drop” as well. This allows the vehicle to be returned when it is most convenient for the renter.
The primary reason that a single direction rental saves money is that it keeps the cost of mileage very low. Most rentals are based on total mileage used by the traveler, and if the trip is across country, the price of the return journey to the original auto agency would be incredibly expensive. The availability of the single direction rental makes it a much more affordable and realistic option.
Just like all vehicle rentals, however, most will have daily mileage amounts and additional fees attached to any trip that exceeds the mileage originally anticipated for the journey.
